The Westonka Horticultural Society is please to announce educational opportunities to meet the needs of the growing interest of gardeners, from novice to professionals and everyone in between. Each program is presented with the most current and up-to-date information in gardening knowledge and techniques. Knowledge sharing is provided by trained professionals, many whom are leaders in their fields. We invite you to join us to learn, share, and experience the joy of gardening.

Garden Gab Sessions

Garden Gab Sessions are free and open to the public. Held on Saturday mornings, it is a time to learn and share in a friendly, non-lecture environment. Sessions are held during spring and fall. Spring sessions are January, February, and March. Fall sessions are August, September, and October. You can attend one or all sessions. Garden Gab is held at the Gillespie Center in Mound, MN, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Visit the Garden Gab webpage for dates and details.

Horticulture Day

Horticulture Day is a one-day horticulture conference with keynote speaker and over 15 workshops on gardening and landscaping. Also included in the day is a continental breakfast, lunch and door prizes. Many topics are covered and you can plan your day to meet your gardening needs. A resource fair is also available to talk with professionals about your garden, landscape plans and to share ideas. Whether you are just learning about gardening or are an experienced gardener and want to learn something new and different, Horticulture Day is where you want to be. 4SQ Gardening Institutes

4SQ Gardening Institutes takes you one step further into dedicated learning. These two-hour, in-depth, hands-on learning sessions will provide small group discussion with a professional instructor. The four components to gardening include:

  • Plant material
  • Bugs/Disease
  • Environment
  • Techniques

Each session will focus on one of the four components and provide the attendee with in-depth knowledge to use in their garden and landscape. There is a nominal fee with a discount when registering for 3 sessions. There is limited seating to provide an exceptional learning experience. Sessions are held in April, May and June.
